Personal Design Philosophy
Work stimulated in view of my native soil Barrow-in-Furness. On the basis of its unique small town culture and own distinctive approach to life and incorporating its ascetic splendour.
Based on the edge of a peninsular and surrounded by water it manages to juxtapose both rural and industrial society, this is interpreted and expressed through my own inventive manner. Incorporating elements of humour, which are comic to me.
Layering materials of substance, enamelling and etching into varied metals, sandblasting achieves the effect of decay, weathering and a sense of presence. Embedding eroded house like silhouettes into several layers of the resin to provide the impression of vastness within the piece. Using small figures to symbolize the individuals of this small town recreating scenes. Making outrageous, immense hand pieces to perform the wit within these pieces. Constructing natural pebble like forms endeavours a sense of the coast and using multi purpose resin to convey a shadowy, bottomless feel resembling the encasing murky waters.
In spite of everything this wearable collection resembles a distinctive reflection and is shown on how the piece is worn on the body. Produced to open out my feelings farther than the boundaries of Barrow. Communicating my own internal perceptions on the town will demonstrate to an outside audience what living in this isolated place means to me.
Every piece of work constructed encloses unique elements with the intention to work on a single aspect as well as collective.
